These are phenomenal.

BRILLIANT

I knew this kid growing up whose father is a rabbi and we were talking Hebrew and how so many Hebrew words were left mistranslated in the new testament of the bible. Specifically we talked about the word rape. The Hebrew words used whenever the new testament cites rape were taphas and shakab (yay for google, no way I would remember those) and essentially mean to grab and then the second means to have sex with (to lie down with more loosely) so yeah there are a lot of instances like the Deuteronomy passage. Language is an interesting thing and i have always looked at the bible as a game of telephone, where things literally are lost or altered in translation. that particular text doesn’t condone rape anymore than listing what legal punishment in 2012 for rape is, which hopefully we will find crazily light years from now.

I think a series Of billboards with out of context bible passages is far from witty or intelligent. I think advertisements trying to turn people away from their religion are just as bizarre as billboards advertising religion. Live your life, stop worrying about everyone else’s.
